Planning a Trip: Sauble Beach
2021 and 2022 I spent more time in Eastern Canada than I have since I lived there from Age 1-7. I managed to find cheap flights constantly, and was able to go out and see friends and family for DIY projects, concerts, road trips and surprises. One of the road trips that we took was to Sauble Beach in late September. Although beautiful, it was a little bit colder than we initially anticipated and our adventure included less pool time and more time exploring. I would go back in a heartbeat in a warmer month, but September wasn’t a bad time to explore the town while it was sleepy, and get to know The June Motel.
The June needs no introduction if you’ve seen the Motel Makeover show on Netflix. This aesthetic beauty is situated in Ontario and has been carefully curated to create the most instagram-mable experience for guests. Cindy and I went for a quick 2-night getaway, and knowing that it wasn’t to be too warm, and deciding to check it out in the shoulder season where we could actually reserve a space!
The June Motel Sauble Beach is 2 hours and 45 minutes away from Toronto, and so we packed up the car bright and early and went for a road trip. There isn’t a ton along the way to Sauble of note, but I did insist that we pull over and visit a pumpkin patch (it was October), and it did not disappoint.
We loved the June Motel. We popped to the neighbouring stores and went and did a little thrifting (the white sweater in the photos), and did a bit of browsing. Since it was in off season, there were many shops that were closed and so we didn’t have a ton of options to go see, but it was cozy and we didn’t go down there to shop.
Now more about the June Motel.
The motel embraces a fun, playful aesthetic with vintage-inspired decor, bright colors, and a laid-back feel. It often caters to guests looking for a weekend getaway, offering a mix of classic motel charm and modern luxury. You’ll typically find cozy rooms with stylish furniture, great attention to design details, and lots of Instagram-worthy spots throughout the property. Even down to the June Journal, the entire motel is very much on brand (plus the canned Rose in the minibar). There are endless photo spots for you to use including the bathroom and bedroom mirrors.
In addition to the chic accommodations, The June Motel typically offers social spaces like lounges, outdoor patios, and sometimes a bar or restaurant serving cocktails, local food, and other refreshments. We hit up the lounge for a coffee in the morning and grabbed a drink and bites from the restaurant on our second evening.
I think we would have been able to use the pool more if it wasn’t in the off season, but the vibe, the hammocks, the picnic tables, the outdoor games, it all made for such a fun evening.
