5 Interior Design Trends to Watch in 2025

Interior design trends evolve year after year, but some styles emerge as timeless classics while others capture the moment. As we progress through 2025, several home design trends are gaining prominence, reflecting shifts in aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability. Here are five notable trends:

Wet Rooms:

Combining showers and bathtubs into a single waterproof space, wet rooms are becoming a popular bathroom design choice. This approach not only offers a sleek, modern look but also enhances accessibility and maximizes space efficiency. These are very common in Europre already, and I can attest they aren’t my favourite, but they are getting more and more popular. If someone can tell me how they don’t track the wet into the ajoining room (bedroom, closet, hallway etc.) I’m all ears.

Moody Earth Tones:

Deep, rich colors like chocolate, burgundy, indigo, and deep green are replacing the once-dominant whites and grays. These moody earth tones add warmth and character to interiors, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. My guest bedroom with the moody green limewash is my take on this trend while still holidjng true to the design style of my home. I absolutely love it, and can attest to going bold in small spaces is a great way to test something out. All of the photos below are or paint colours from my favourite brand Bauwerk.

Sustainable and Electric Features:

There's a growing emphasis on sustainability in home design. Features such as whole-home batteries, solar panels, and electric vehicle charging stations are becoming more prevalent, reflecting a commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Curved Furniture and Décor:

Incorporating curves in furniture and décor is gaining popularity, creating a harmonious and inviting environment. This trend adds softness to interiors and contrasts with the straight lines that have dominated design in previous years. Curved furniture isn’t new to the scene, but it is definitely here to stay. Softer lines and archways (here’s a link to all the archway inspiration) are sticking around, and Wayfair, Amazon and your Home Goods stores have easy options to take advantage of this trend.

English-Style Kitchens:

Bring back wood tones! Kitchens inspired by English design are making a comeback. This style features rich wood cabinets, historical paint colors, natural countertop materials like soapstone and butcher’s block, large range alcoves, wood ceiling beams, and a collected look that appears pieced together over time. I LOVE this trend because it allows the true beauty and history of a space to show through if you’re uncovering cabinets in an older home. It’s next to impossible to do anything like this to my kitchen, but I’m tempted to cover all of my cabinets in a thin wood veneer and staining it after seeing all the inspirations for this style of kitchen. However, it doesn’t need to be all wood. Here are some great examples of English kitchen design with wood tones and painted cabinets.

These trends reflect a broader movement towards creating homes that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, sustainable, and personalized to individual tastes.
