This year’s patio Gardening Setup
I love gardening. I’ve had a passion for keeping plants and tending to a garden on my patio or in a backyard for the last few years, and it only increased during the first year of the pandemic when I had not much to do, but tend to what I could.
I live in a hardiness zone 3b, which isn’t the greatest for growing, and you need to be more specific when planning to make sure things are successful and here are some tips on how to set up a garden in Zone 3b.

Decor Inspirations: Scandi
Although my favourite style right now is Japandi, the origin of this style is Scandinavian. IKEA is the best example of this design style, and there is a reason people are drawn to clean lines, warm textiles and cozy accents.
Here are a five things that I use and how you can apply it to your space easily without needing to invest too much, and using what you already may have.
Decor Inspirations: Japandi
When I was researching design options for a friend of mine, I was introduced to this interesting style of decor and design called Japandi. It’s a mix between Japanese minimalism, and then Scandinavian influence with cozy textiles, natural fibres, neutral woods and lots of plants. I’ve put together 6 Ways to incorporate the Japandi style into your place, even if you don’t have a sprawling space.
Thrift Flip: IKEA Kids Kitchen
I found this IKEA Duktig Kids Kitchen last year on Facebook Marketplace and used it instead as a way to experiment with techniques and my style. Here is my Step-by-Step guide with links to how I created this IKEA Kids Kitchen.
Plant Mom: Dried Florals
You may not have a green thumb, so dried florals are a great way of incorporating natural texture! I have a few dried florals strategically around the house in areas that do not get a lot of light, but I like the natural feel, and don’t love faux plants. Here are a few of my favorite dried florals for your home, and a couple great resources for dried and faux plants.
Decor Inspirations: Farmhouse
My significant other grew up spending his summers on a farm. He loves the feeling of being out in the prairies in Saskatchewan, on the farm with his family. We’re moving in together so the plan was to find a way to combine my love of Bali decor, and his love of farmhouse decor (along with all 27 of our plants) to find a happy medium.
Decor Inspirations: Nordic Holiday
Hello! It’s been awhile, but I wanted to come back with some great inspirations for Nordic Holiday Decor. My new sister-in-law is from Finland, and let’s be honest, my trip to Norway and my love of IKEA already gave me great inspiration for what to do for the holidays.

Following that, I felt the need to make a few changes to my house to reflect the laid back and earthy aesthetic that my favourite place has to offer. Here are a few inspirations that we really loved to accomplish this.
Living Hygge: Bedrooms
Bringing the feeling of Hygge into the bedroom is the most important in my book. Your bedroom is the ultimate place to create a cozy haven where you can curl up, light a candle, have a mug of tea, and read or write in your journal. Here are some key components to a Hygge Bedroom.
Living Hygge: Candles
When the days get longer, and you no longer see the sun (I drive into work in the dark and from work in the dark...), it's important to establish a sense of Hygge and comfortability at home. Here are some of my favourite candles that inspire Hygge Living.
Living Hygge: Fireplaces
Something that the Hygge lifestyle elicits is the feeling of warmth and coziness, but the real warmth and coziness comes from the fireplace too. Living Hygge often means having the perfect fireplace area in your house to get warm and feel cozy when you come in from the cold.
Introduction to Hygge
I picked up this delightful book the other day on living the Hygge lifestyle. It interested me because I am all about the cozy lifestyle. I used to enjoy picking up a good book, cozying up with a blanket nest and a huge cup of tea and just reading for awhile. I wanted to get back into the cozy lifestyle, especially with the winter coming in full force.
January Cleaning
Now if you're all like me and you tend to keep your Christmas decorations up too long, this is the post for you.
Winter Cozy-ing
My favourite part about living in Calgary during the winter is the easy access to the mountains. I was involved in a photoshoot last week which needed me up in Banff for a few days, and although it was -25 most days, I really enjoyed exploring more of the beauty the Rocky Mountains have to offer.
Winter Decor: Hot Chocolate Bar
Just because Christmas is over, doesn't mean you need to take all of your decorations down! Growing up, my mother used to love decorating for everything, and she had decorations for every event you could think of for any part of the year.
