2023 Decor Trends to try this Spring.
As we move into 2023, there are several exciting home decor trends to look out for. From bold colours to natural materials, these trends are sure to transform your home into a comfortable and stylish haven. Here are some of the top home decor trends for 2023:
Bold Colors
In 2023, bold colors are set to take center stage in home decor. Whether it’s a bold red accent wall or a bright yellow sofa, these eye-catching hues are sure to add personality and depth to any room. Don’t be afraid to mix and match colors either – combining contrasting colors can create a striking and unforgettable look.
I’m not the biggest fan of crazy colour anymore and tend to treat terracotta and olive green as my craziest options, but the spring flowers are encouraging me to include pops of colour that way, and I’m already on the hunt for a Magnolia branch for my living foom.
Sustainable Materials
As our society becomes more conscious of the impact we have on the environment, sustainable materials are becoming increasingly popular in home decor. Think furniture made from reclaimed wood, eco-friendly fabrics, and home decor accessories made from recycled materials. Not only is this trend good for the environment, but it also adds a natural and rustic feel to any home.
Texture
Texture is set to be a key trend in 2023, with homeowners looking to add depth and dimension to their spaces. From chunky knit blankets to woven wall hangings, texture can make a room feel cozy and inviting. Mixing and matching different textures is also a great way to create visual interest and add personality to a room.
I’ve just finished my spare room where my best friend has been living with me for the last few weeks, and since it’s so small, I’ve incorporated a lot of texture into the room to provide interest before I go ahead and make any changes to the walls (I’m thinking lime wash). I found a couple great blankets (and yes one may be a rug) that have so much different texture within the same colour scheme, and it provides a lot of interest to the eye.
Vintage Pieces
Vintage and retro decor is making a comeback in 2023, with homeowners looking to add a touch of nostalgia to their homes. Whether it’s a vintage rug, a retro lamp, or a mid-century modern sofa, these pieces add character and charm to any room. Plus, buying vintage is a sustainable way to furnish your home.
I’m taking my own spin on this trend by trying to buy online garage sale furniture moving forward for the summer. I love taking a piece and giving it new life with a coat of stain and sealant, or adding my own touches to previously used wood pieces. My coffee table, kitchen table, side tables and dressers are all inexpensive finds from garage sales, and I’ll be continuing that into this season.
Natural Materials
Natural materials such as wood, stone, and metal are set to be big in 2023. These materials add a sense of warmth and earthiness to any room, and can be incorporated into a variety of different decor styles. From a rustic farmhouse look to a modern and minimalist aesthetic, natural materials are versatile and timeless.
I’ve been adding a dark neutral wood stain to everything, and it’s really made the home feel less like IKEA and more like a traditional modern home. Hobby wood or finished boards from your local hardware stores are easy to stain and put on top of anything to create a table top, and its a great way to make a home feel more natural and cohesive.
Statement Lighting
Statement lighting is set to be a key trend in 2023, with homeowners looking to add drama and glamour to their spaces. From oversized chandeliers to sculptural table lamps, statement lighting can transform a room and create a memorable focal point.
Maximalism
In 2023, the trend for maximalism is set to continue. This style is all about embracing bold colors, patterns, and textures to create a visually rich and eclectic look. Mix and match different styles and eras, and don’t be afraid to go all out with your decor choices.
I really vary between loving minimalism and always wanting to have a lot of things around me. I’ve recently started getting into photography and are collecting vintage cameras, some of which I use, but some of which are collectors pieces, and I’m drifting farther and farther away from minimalism. I struggle between clutter and maximalism, so we’ll see how I try this trend this year without stressing myself out.
2023 is set to be an exciting year for home decor trends. From bold colors and sustainable materials to texture and vintage pieces, these trends are sure to transform any home into a stylish and comfortable sanctuary. Whether you’re a fan of minimalism or maximalism, there’s a trend out there to suit your taste and style.
