New Year, New Vision Board

Living the life of your dreams starts with a clear vision, intentional actions, and a mindset rooted in possibility. Achieving your dream life isn’t about instant transformations but about cultivating habits, setting goals, and consistently working toward them. With the right tools and techniques, you can align your energy and efforts to create a fulfilling and purpose-driven existence. One such tool is the vision board, a tangible reminder of your dreams and goals that keeps you motivated.

I create mine using pictures from Pinterest, I find them more aesthetic that way and I like that I have ones that don’t feel too posed. It’s really nice though, I reviewed the one I made last December 31st, and I accomplished everything I wanted to do, and the board really reflected my 2024. My best friend reminded me though that just because you put together a beautiful board of things you are already going to do doesn’t mean you should also include some aspirational images or words, so I’ve made a more detailed plan for 2025 which I’ll share in January.

Here is the board I put together for 2024:

Reflecting on 2024

I went and did all the things I set out on my board. I celebrated more, and did so with fun cocktails, sparklers and fancy parties. Travel was a huge thing on my board in 2024, I added Palm Springs, Europe in winter (the trip I’m on right now) and then photos of the Amalfi coast and Italy. I also included camping, although technically never went out in a tent, I did make it out for a ‘camping’ trip. I included lots of yummy food, I did eat with reckless abandon and loved the act of eating and sharing meals. I also included beds, cuddling and baths, and incorporated more duvet days and cozy nights in. I also included a woman in a blazer and a girl doing a yoga pose which was indiciative of starting our business Kinship in February and running 4 successful events before taking a hiatus. At its core, I am creating the life of my dreams, and looking back I really did.

Here is what I’m going for 2025, and here is how you can follow along:

  1. Define Your Vision
The first step to creating your dream life is clarity. Reflect on what you want in different areas of your life, such as career, relationships, health, finances, and personal growth. Ask yourself:

    • What truly makes me happy?

    • What does success look like to me?

    • What values are most important in my life?

Write these down to solidify your goals and keep them top of mind.

  2. Set Specific Goals
Break down your vision into actionable, measurable goals. For example:

    • Instead of “be healthier,” aim for “exercise for 30 minutes, 5 days a week.”

    • Instead of “save money,” aim for “save $5,000 by the end of the year.”

  3. Take Consistent Action
Dreams become reality through action. Commit to taking small, consistent steps toward your goals. Even minor actions, when done regularly, can lead to significant progress over time.

  4. Cultivate a Positive Mindset
Your mindset plays a crucial role in your success. Practice gratitude to focus on what’s going well, and reframe challenges as opportunities for growth. Surround yourself with supportive people who inspire and encourage you.

  5. Visualize Your Dream Life
Visualization is a powerful tool for manifesting your desires. Spend a few minutes each day imagining your ideal life as if it’s already yours. This practice reinforces your goals and motivates you to keep going.

  6. Track Your Progress and Adjust
Regularly evaluate your progress and adjust your plans if needed. Celebrate small wins along the way, as they keep you motivated and reinforce your belief in your abilities. Instead of just checking in in December, check in at the end of each month and see what needs to change, and reflect on what you’ve accomplished.

How to Create a Vision Board

A vision board is a creative and effective tool to keep your goals front and center. It serves as a visual representation of your dreams, helping you stay focused and inspired.

  1. Clarify Your Goals
Before starting, revisit your goals. Think about what you want to achieve in various aspects of your life—career, relationships, health, travel, finances, etc.

  2. Gather Images and Words
Flip through magazines (if you’re creating a physical board) or search online for images and words that represent your goals and dreams. These can include:

    • Pictures of places you want to visit

    • Inspirational quotes or affirmations

    • Photos that represent the lifestyle you aspire to have

  3. Organize Your Board
Lay out your images and words on the board before arranging them. Group similar themes together, such as all health-related items in one corner and career goals in another.

  4. Display Your Board
Place your vision board somewhere you’ll see it daily, such as your bedroom, workspace, or even as your phone or desktop background (for a digital version).

  5. Use Your Vision Board
Spend a few moments each day looking at your vision board. Visualize yourself achieving the goals and embrace the positive emotions associated with them. I love having a monthly version of mine as my phone background so that I can remind myself of my goals and the month I’m in.

By taking intentional steps every day and keeping your goals in focus, you’ll find yourself steadily moving closer to the life you’ve always dreamed of. Remember, the journey is just as important as the destination—embrace every step with gratitude and determination.
