January 2024 Inspirations
I don’t know about you, but I started off my year with my partner in Banff, and we did all the winter-y things while also making sure to be slow and intentional with our time. I also spent a couple hours putting together my vision for 2024, putting together a monthly look and then a year-long look at what I wanted to bring into my life and what I wanted to channel. I created one for January to start, with my inspo board here.
7 Spooky Things to do this October
Calgary, known for its stunning Rocky Mountain backdrop and vibrant cultural scene, transforms into a haven for all things spooky and spectacular come Halloween. I love Halloween. There is something about the season of Fall that invokes cozy vibes, and I love going to a pumpkin patch, cooking with pumpkins, watching Halloweentown (no scary movies for me this year), and doing all the cute fall things with friends and a significant other.
June Inspirations
June is the season of warm weather, growing plants, outdoor movies, outdoor markets and more. I’ve put together a few things that I love about June and a few things that are inspiring me.
10 Tips for First Time Buyers
I bought my first home last year, and its been an adventure on top of my health issues. It was a rough time to buy a home personally, but the market was pretty good and I made sure to educate myself ahead of time so that my experience was better. I’ve put together a few things that I found helpful and I’m glad I learned, but some I wish I had learned before starting the process.
What I learned in 2022
I’ve taken to skipping resolutions for the new year. I choose to look back at my year and think about all that happened and all that I learned. I also take a look at what I want to move forward with and release from my habits in the year ahead, and build new habits that become regular occurrence. Here are a few things that I learned in 2023 about myself.
September Inspirations
September is one of my favourite times of the year. It tends to be a great balance of Summer weather and cooler nights. It also means that it’s the last chance to be on patios, get out on the water, harvest summer’s vegetables gardens and soak up the last bits of sunshine.
I always treat Sept 1 as more of a start to the new year, rather than January 31. I have a few things that I always do below that helps me start what I view as my new year on the right foot:
30 things I accomplished, learned and started before 30
I think a lot of us can say that by the time we are 30, we have these goals set out that we hope to accomplish. They are not even goals, more like life milestones. I think we’ve created this belief system that we’ve failed if we aren’t in the right space before 30, but I think dismantling this belief, accepting wherever you are, you are at the right spot is the key to happiness at this age. 30 is a scary year, but I’m looking back on 30 things I’ve accomplished, started and done by the age of 30.
40 things I learned in University
I started university almost 12 years ago. It makes me feel so old to realize that those days of staying out all night, making new friends, laughing through new experiencing and epically failing. University is this amazing experience, especially living on res, and its such a great supported, first-taste of freedom that you get post-living at home. I put this together years ago, but here are 40 Things that I learned throughout university after 4 amazing years!
Five ways to spend Valentines Day.
No matter the way you spend Valentine’s Day, whether its eating the most expensive meal all year, or spending it in a 3rd world country with a close friend, I think the best way to spend the day is surrounded by love, and reminding others that you love them. Even though we are in the midst of a pandemic, I find there are still ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with everyone from your loved one to your friends or your family.
Quick Profile on Me.
For those of you that don’t know me, nice to meet you! I thought I’d put together a quick profile since its been awhile since I’ve checked in.
September Inspirations
September, where I am from, is also a time where the evenings get a bit chilly and you start adding scarves and cardigans to your daily wardrobe. For the commercial public, they also mean the return of PSL’s and pumpkin everything (don’t get me wrong, I love both of these). So here is a look at what is inspiring me this September, from books to clothes.
March Inspirations
Sometimes you just meet the right people and you realize how many amazing people there are out there. I'm feeling inspired to make changes to the way I live and who I surround myself with so I feel that type of positivity and encouragement everyday.
Practicing Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the psychological process of bringing one's attention to experiences occurring in the present moment, which one can develop through the practice of meditation and through other training. Check out a few important things I’ve found about incorporating mindfulness into your’re everyday.
Halfway done, what I’ve learned.
It both feels like yesterday that I left and I also feel like I’ve been gone for ages. I feel like I’ve already grown so much and my perspective on the world, much like every trip I take, has changed. It’s a beautiful feeling to know that you’ve grown and been able to see so much. Here are 7 things I’ve learned so far.
January Inspirations
Even though I’m traveling right now, I’m still feeling so inspired by the decor around me. I can’t wait to have home again! In the meantime, I put together a few things that are inspiring me this January including a few travel tips and things I want to learn this month.
New Year’s Resolutions 2018
December is over and your Christmas season is coming to a close. If you’re like me, you have friends that are scrambling to find NYE plans and find the best way to celebrate with others It’s that time of year again to create resolutions and find ways to improve your next year. Here are a few of mine that I set last year in my New Years Resolution post from 2017 and what I actually did.
What they don’t tell you when you go long-term traveling
I’ve gone on quite a few trips, and every time I leave things change and I’m never prepared for it. I am terrible with change (i’m working on it), but here are a few things that I’ve noticed no one tells you about when you traveling.
Loss of a Friend
As I write this, I have just found out a close friend of mine had passes away suddenly. I’ve been told “you’ll get used to it”, “things will get better as you get older”, “you’ll eventually get used to it when people you know start to pass”. This isn’t my first friend to pass away suddenly at a young age, and it hasn’t seemed that it hurts any less. Here is a personal post with just a few thoughts on young loss.
Turning 27
This year I'm turning 27, and I'm not going to lie, it scares me. I'm entering into my late 20's and I feel like I still don't have anything figured out. I don't have long-term plans and I don't have any short term goals.
But I really thought about it, and 27 is a year to really figure out what I want in life. It's a year that I can spend really figuring out what I want to do, where I want to live, where I want to go and who I want to surround myself with.
