Quick Profile on Me.

If we haven’t already met, my name is Michaela, but I sign my posts with my middle name Elizabeth, and I’ve been running a variation of Fourth and Ivy for the last 8 years which is insane to me! What started off as a way to share my thoughts on what to wear and what to do, has turned into a travel and lifestyle blog.

I’ve come a long way since my university days, but I’ve loved watching how my interests and content has developed over time. I thought it would be great to share a bit more about the person I am today.

NEW HOBBY IN QUARANTINE

This is a laundry list because I realized I didn’t have many hobbies when this started in March. I’ve tried embroidering, painting, combining embroidery and painting, making decor, distressing furniture, creating interior design plans and lots of reading!

MOST FUNCTIONAL ITEM I OWN:

Probably my Vitamix. That thing is a beautiful piece of cookware and it does just about anything. Smoothie? Check. Almond Milk? Check. Soup? Check. Pie Crusts? Check.

MY MORNING ROUTINE:

  • Snooze my alarm for 30 minutes at least and say good morning to my little dog Jack.

  • I usually shower in the evenings so my morning consists of Toner, Moisturizer, Sunscreen, Daytime Facial Oil and Eye cream. If I don’t have to see anyone that day, and I have no Zoom calls I don’t wear mascara or any other makeup.

  • I make myself a cup of coffee with my Nespresso and sit on my couch with it for a few minutes before I open my computer for the day. If I don’t have any plans, sometimes I’ll walk to the coffee shop down the street to get my coffee. Fresh air + Caffeine wakes me up.

MY DAILY UNIFORM:

In the summer I wear my cutoff shorts and a band tee or a flowy dress depending on how I’m feeling that day, or if I have to be apart of video calls.

I try and keep the heat tools off my hair during the summer because I already get so much sun being outside, and it’s easiest to spray on some Bumble and Bumble Salt Spray and go from there.

My go to look somehow always trends towards Bali City Vibes or Just walked off the beach. I don’t mind it!

PRODUCT I’VE USED SINCE HIGH SCHOOL

My Bumble and Bumble Salt Spray always comes back to me since I started using it in high school. The formula has changed slightly and it’s now more moisturizing and less crunchy.

FAVOURITE PLACE TO STAY:

Bali or Thailand. I’ve been to both a few times and I would give anything to be on a beach in Koh Tao right now or in a villa in Ubud. I would definitely say that is my happy place.

MAKES YOU FEEL COZY:

My blankets. I have a blanket ladder that holds 4-6 cozy blankets at all times, even in the dead of summer. There is something nice about cozying up in a blanket or the couch that makes me feel safe and cozy. If it’s wintertime, I throw on the fireplace and it’s very gezellig.

GO TO DRINK

Hot or Iced Almond Latte.

FAVOURITE FONT

Moontime right now. But this changes as I discover new and beautiful fonts that I can use for my clients at Elizabeth + Co.

BOOK YOU KEEP BY YOUR BEDSIDE

You are a Badass by Jen Sincero. It’s a good read once a year when you need reminding that you are powerful and in control of what you give your energy to. It’s also a good reminder that you have the power to change your life with a few mindset shifts. I’m not one to highlight and bookmark in printed books, but I am considering it to be able to refer back to specific passages later on.

OLDEST ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE

A Grey Zara Cardigan. I’ve had it for 13/14 years and I’ve stitched up countless holes to keep it looking like new. I don’t think I’ve worn it in years, but I keep it just in case I need a longer cardigan in a neutral.

FAVORITE DISCOVERY

That travel feeds the soul. Being uncomfortable in a new country, with a new culture, customs and a new language is the most wonderful feeling.

ESSENTIAL TOOL

I can’t pick just one. Packing cubes, first aid kit, sewing kit.

My phone is a wonderful tool for maps, photography, notes, an e-book reader etc. It’s a wonderful piece of technology.

WHAT'S IN YOUR PURSE RIGHT NOW

Pens, a mask, hand sanitizer, notebook for writing my thoughts down, allergy medication (summer—spring allergies are my jam), hair pin and scrunchies, a few makeup samples I keep in there if I need something on the go.

I hope you’ve learned a few things about me, and if we haven’t met before, Welcome to Fourth and Ivy!

Love, E
