Hosting: Galentine’s

Ladies, it's that time of year again! Valentine's Day is just around the corner, but who says it's only for couples? Galentine's Day, made popular by the beloved TV show Parks and Recreation, is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the love and friendship among your fellow gal pals. Hosting a Galentine's Day party can be a fun and memorable event that brings your girlfriends together for a night of laughter, bonding, and appreciation. Here are some tips on how to host a fabulous Galentine's Day party.

  1. Plan Ahead: Start by picking a date and time that works for most of your friends. As Valentine's Day often falls on a weekday, consider hosting your Galentine's Day party on a weekend or the closest available day. Send out invites well in advance so your friends can mark their calendars and plan to attend. Lots of people go away for Valentine’s Day if they have a partner, or have weekend plans!

  2. Decorate with Love: Set the mood with festive decorations that scream love and friendship. Think pink, red, and gold color schemes with heart-shaped balloons, streamers, and banners. Scatter rose petals on the table or create a DIY photo backdrop with gold balloons (like I did). Create a warm and inviting space that will make your friends feel loved and appreciated.

  3. Delightful Treats: No party is complete without delicious treats. Prepare a spread of sweet and savory snacks that your friends will love. You can have heart-shaped cookies, chocolate-covered strawberries, cupcakes, and a cheese or charcuterie board. Don't forget to offer a variety of beverages, including mocktails or cocktails, depending on your friends' preferences. I have both created a charcuterie board party, but also done a breakfast board (pictured). Both are fun, but a breakfast board is harder to prep so you may need some help.

  4. Fun Activities: Plan some fun activities that will keep your friends entertained throughout the evening. You can have a Valentine's Day-themed trivia game, a DIY craft station to make personalized cards or friendship bracelets, or even a movie night featuring your favorite romantic comedies.

  5. Share the Love: Galentine's Day is all about expressing love and appreciation for your friends. Provide a station with cards, pens, and markers for your friends to write heartfelt notes to each other. You can also have a "compliment jar" where everyone can drop in anonymous compliments for each other.

  6. Capture the Moments: Don't forget to capture the special moments of the evening. Set up a designated photo area with props and a backdrop for fun group photos. You can designate a few friends to be in charge of taking candid shots throughout the day/night.

  7. Parting Gifts: As your friends leave the party, send them off with a small token of appreciation. It can be a small gift, a personalized card, or a cute treat to enjoy later. It's a thoughtful gesture that gives them a memento.

Hosting a Galentine's Day party is a wonderful way to celebrate the love and friendship. So gather your girlfriends, spread the love, and create unforgettable memories at your Galentine's Day celebration! Happy Galentine's Day, ladies!
