What to do this Valentine’s 2026
I’m a big fan of celebrating each season and holiday in my own way. I love to plan a party, or event, or a get together and I love to go out of my way to make sure I romanticize the cooler months to make them feel less depressing. One of my favourite times of year is February: I crack out the fresh flowers, and open all the windows (and shades) and get fresh air circulating, I also plan an intentional Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s Day celebration.

Growing up in Canada, and actually being born in Ontario, the fact I had never been to Ottawa was crazy to me. So when my friend’s partner suggested skating on the Rideau Canal, I was in. I’m not the best skater, but I love to be on skates and feel a great sense of freedom in the fresh air. Since I’ve been trying to keep my trips to long weekends, and since it’s the dead of winter, I hopped on a plane on a Thursday morning and headed for Ottawa to meet up with friends.
