Living Hygge: Candles
When the days get longer, and you no longer see the sun (I drive into work in the dark and from work in the dark...), it's important to establish a sense of Hygge and comfortability at home. The lack of sun can really wear on a person, but the introduction and practice of Hygge can help counteract the negative emotions and increase the feeling of comfortability and content. I choose to incorporate this into my everyday but turning on my christmas lights and fireplace when I get home.
However, fireplaces can't be your only source of flickering light! Part of living Hygge is that natural light flame brings into a room or an experience. I myself am a big candle person, I don't need to even have them lit, I just really enjoy the faint smell of vanilla in the air around my apartment.
There have been studies released that shot low quality candles can release carcinogens into the air, however soy candles are made with vegetable wax, so they produce low amounts of soot and no carcinogens into the air when they are burned. When you are living the Hygge lifestyle, candles are an important part of your daily or weekly practice, and paraffin candle burning can really add up.
Here are some candle options from all levels of affordability, and variety that you will be sure to find an option:
Have you found any other great candles to add to the list?
