Living Hygge: Fireplaces
Something that the Hygge lifestyle elicits is the feeling of warmth and coziness, but the real warmth and coziness comes from the fireplace too. Living Hygge often means having the perfect fireplace area in your house to get warm and feel cozy when you come in from the cold. I am lucky enough that I have an awesome fireplace in my apartment, and when it gets really cozy I can turn it on. It may be gas, but it really does elicit the hygge feeling when it's on and it's snowing outside.
There is nothing like a real fireplace however, and one can dream of a future wood burning fireplace in a beautiful white and warm living room. I've been combing Pinterest for inspiration on how to create that feeling in my own apartment using blankets and baskets. It seemed that no matter what you did, blankets really come down to creating that cozy feeling in any room.
Since we are getting into the winter season, and I'm trying to incorporate more natural pieces in the apartment, and sprigs of fir and pine are being incorporated into the christmas theme this year when possible.

Although my favourite style right now is Japandi, the origin of this style is Scandinavian. IKEA is the best example of this design style, and there is a reason people are drawn to clean lines, warm textiles and cozy accents.
Here are a five things that I use and how you can apply it to your space easily without needing to invest too much, and using what you already may have.
