What to Pack: NYC
I've just booked a trip to NYC for the beginning of March! I wrote post last week about places that I want to check out when I get to NYC, but I wanted to put together a post about what I'm packing. I like to pride myself in packing light whenever possible, and paring down where I can to make things as easy and efficient as possible while traveling.
Looking at the weather it looks like it's going to be quite chilly, but compared to -15 here, it will be more like +10 there. I'm not complaining, it's not as though I have to go somewhere warm when I travel, look how often I travel to the coast in the winter time where it is sometimes downright miserable. This means though that I'll be needing to pack warm sweaters and fuzzy socks for the trip and will need to work on my packing light for cold weather ability.
Being stylish however is part of being in New York City. Everyone seems to look effortless there in whatever they wear in NYC, and I envy them for their effortless style. To try and channel some of that effortless chic, I'm planning on packing a few timeless staples along with a few nice pieces to look nice and stay warm during the trip.
What to Pack:
Since the weather is going to be so cold, I'll need to make sure I pack my warm clothing, but also aim to look somewhat attractive underneath it all.
Pullover: Goes with almost anything and provides a bit of warmth.
Blouse: Stylish, but goes well with jeans and boots to look nice to go out for dinner or to a show
Oversized Hoodie: Comfortable and perfect for morning brunch or walks through Central Park
Hats and Mitts: Warm and fuzzy and perfect for chilly mornings and covering bedhead.
Camel Coat: The best way to finish off any outfit. Comfortable, figure flattering and warm.
Wrap Dress: For nights out and going to shows. Perfect for when you need to dress up a bit and require a bit of class.
Jeans: Versatile. Need no explanation
Leggings: Perfect for lots of walking and comfort. Can add a layer of warmth when jeans on their own isn't enough.
Running Shoes: For the amount of walking I plan on doing!
Boots: Goes with everything I have a great for short trips. Should make sure these are comfortable though for walking.
Flats: To go with anything and everything else if the boots don't work out.
Cross-body Bag: To fit my wallet and important items into, but not too big that it ends up adding large amounts of weight.
I might add a few more tanks to layer on underneath for warmth, but I want to try and pack as light as possible to save room for shopping!
Anything else that you think I'll be needing? Let me know in the comments below!
Love, E
