Decor Inspirations: Palm Springs
In our previous post we recommended a few things to do and places to stay while you're considering going to Palm Springs. Following that, I felt the need to make a few changes to my house to reflect the laid back and earthy aesthetic that my favourite place has to offer. Here are a few inspirations that we really loved to accomplish this.
Traveling to NYC
Our trip started off with a red eye flight to Toronto. Let me tell you, red eye flights may sound exciting, leaving one city and waking up in the next, however it’s key to note this means usually a 3.5 hour sleep if you’re lucky and then after a slightly hectic transfer, you’ll get another hour of uncomfortable sleep. Here is a run-down of the first couple of days in NYC!
Planning a Trip: Palm Springs
It's freezing outside for a lot of us this time of year, so now is the perfect time to plan a trip to somewhere warm. Somewhere that I discovered last year was this lovely retirement-esque place known to many as Palm Springs. With the aging population of 65+ and few younger people, it's a really great place to get away and relax with friends by the pool, hiking in the Joshua Tree National Park, or visiting the many interesting places that the area has to offer.
February Inspirations
We've been spending a lot of time working on this blog the past couple weeks and planning out our year ahead that January has flown by. It's amazing how the beginning of January starts off with goal setting, organization and well intentions. Whether you set out to go to the gym five times a week and ended up watching your favourite shows on Netflix instead, or pledged to eat healthy and instead re-downloaded that food ordering app, February can be your new start.
What to Pack: NYC
I've just booked a trip to NYC for the beginning of March! I wrote post last week about places that I want to check out when I get to NYC, but I wanted to put together a post about what I'm packing. I like to pride myself in packing light whenever possible, and paring down where I can to make things as easy and efficient as possible while traveling.
Planning a Trip: NYC
I've just booked a trip to NYC for the beginning of March! I've been to the Big Apple before, but when I was traveling with family and technically under age in the United States. I'm currently researching a few places that I'd like to go and a few experiences I want to have while being down there.
Dealing with Stress
What can I say, stress can contribute to a lot of problems in the body. You can go from being a healthy person to hospitalization in a couple months if you aren't careful and manage your everyday stress. This can come from not having a work life balance, a stressful job, relationship issues, family problems. The list goes on.
New Year’s Resolutions ‘17
recently read a great article about creating resolutions. It suggested that instead of creating lofty goals that were just out of reach and unrealistic, try and create some small goals that you can accomplish in the new year.
Living Hygge: Comfort Food
For this week of Living Hygge, I'm going to focus on food. In my book about Hygge, they gave a few different recipes on comfort food, but as a celiac, I had to go digging for my own Hygge recipes.
Living Hygge: Bedrooms
Bringing the feeling of Hygge into the bedroom is the most important in my book. Your bedroom is the ultimate place to create a cozy haven where you can curl up, light a candle, have a mug of tea, and read or write in your journal. Here are some key components to a Hygge Bedroom.
Living Hygge: Candles
When the days get longer, and you no longer see the sun (I drive into work in the dark and from work in the dark...), it's important to establish a sense of Hygge and comfortability at home. Here are some of my favourite candles that inspire Hygge Living.
Living Hygge: Fireplaces
Something that the Hygge lifestyle elicits is the feeling of warmth and coziness, but the real warmth and coziness comes from the fireplace too. Living Hygge often means having the perfect fireplace area in your house to get warm and feel cozy when you come in from the cold.
48 Hours in Shanghai
I was lucky enough to stop over in Shanghai on my way to SE Asia. If you are headed down there and you will likely have a layover or plane change in China, I recommend taking advantage of the not so talked about 144 or 24-hour visa that is offered at customs. Here is my travel diary while in China and what I recommend you know before you go there!
Introduction to Hygge
I picked up this delightful book the other day on living the Hygge lifestyle. It interested me because I am all about the cozy lifestyle. I used to enjoy picking up a good book, cozying up with a blanket nest and a huge cup of tea and just reading for awhile. I wanted to get back into the cozy lifestyle, especially with the winter coming in full force.
Learning to live on your own again.
Sometimes things don't work out and it's okay. No matter how much you love someone, when you have a few key differences, it's sometimes hard to compromise without feeling like you're losing a part of yourself. Here is how I'm learning to live on my own again.
Planning a Trip: SE Asia Flights
SE Asia is the best place to go to get a mix of culture, nightlife and lots of beach time. I went to Thailand a year and a half ago by myself and had the best time. I was able to meet people all over the world, but the best part was exploring the temples in the different cities and learning more about Buddhism and myself.
Italy Guide: Cinque Terre
I have always dreamed of going to Cinque Terre. It was the one place in Italy that I dreamed of the blue skies, sun and spending time in the water. Here are a few highlights of my trip.
Currently Dreaming: Paris
My mother always told me to go to Paris with somebody. She said that it is such a romantic place that deserves to be visited as a couple in love. I plan on going one day, but just because you're single, that shouldn't stop you from visiting this beautiful place.
January Cleaning
Now if you're all like me and you tend to keep your Christmas decorations up too long, this is the post for you.
Yoga Challenge
As one of my resolutions was incorporating more yoga into my life, and with that comes the need to have the right equipment. I already have a few yoga mats and a variety of athletic wear, but there is no harm in investing in a new piece to get you motivated. Some of my must-have workout wear is below.
